Description: 11. message: i'm using my friends address for reference. she lives at 12721 trowbridge lane, 33624. this is a family that needs help. it's a landlord/tenant situation, they are obviously the tenant with a slumlord. on day one or two of move in i was visiting along with another friend. the mgt co. rep(patty) was here as well as the owner(ivan) and his handyman(carlos). we we sitting on the lanai and a big rain came in and the lanai just started flooding from the roof. both owner and rep stated that we will get that taken care of, that was at the beginning of a one year lease. shellie signed a two year lease in july and that was not once mentioned again. her kids put gorilla tape over all the possible creases which bought about a year. again, we will get that taken care of......never touched and then there is this: a leak pops up under the slab on the outside edge the right side of the home. it effects two bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as the edge of the living room. the renter contacted the mgt co immediately and was told to call the emergency hotline. she did and a plumber and restoration company were dispatched immediately.so, they came out and did what anyone has dealt with a flood situation knows. pull out baseboards, pull up carpet and place large industrial fans as well as dehumidifiers for a situation that calls for such...this was a situation that called for such. the restoration company came back each day to check progress, day two or maybe three they stated the owner demanded that everything be removed. now, with my experience in property management water is you worst enemy and must be dealt with immediately. my question at that point is who is in control? the owner of the property or the management company with whom this renter has a lease. the renter was told that the owner holds her deposits and they can be forfeited and they have no control over him. so, here somebody sits without the ability to get a lawyer, the possibility of living in mold with a sixteen year old in the home and just sit back and take it because your lease money is no longer yours. the rent has been paid in a timely manner. 1200.00 a month to live in what is less than standard as the entire house is torn apart as was not brought up to standard from day one with the discussion of the lanai. next issue, their contractor (carlos) has made repairs and they were not made properly. we have pictures of mold that is being covered up.....i have requested that the tenant require the upper mgt come view the property. i know that getting the health department could be a really good stick it in your side, but this family has no money and nowhere to go. it's really a fix it people kind of deal. your help would be appreciated. thank you, janyese joiner 10. subject: landlord/slum lord this was forwarded from consumer protection general contact form

Description: Description of complaint: i rented an apartment that's an attachment to my landlords house. i just moved out because the conditions made it uninhabitable. there is black mold everywhere. the walls and ceilings don't connect. the front wall has 2 screen porch doors in it. 1 of the doors is the front door so there's no real door. there are spaces and gaps around the door and it's covered with mold. there's mold on the ceiling which is just a porch awning. there's a leak where rain comes inside where the kitchen meets the living room and that's a major source of the mold. there is also mold in the bedroom and the bathroom is covered in mold. the plumbing in the bathroom isn't up to code in any way. if u flush the toilet twice within less than 20 minutes the sewage comes up the shower drain. you can smell the raw sewage coming up the drain. the sink water goes straight out of a pipe into the back yard. i can't list all of the code violations there are so many. in short the place is built wrong and was built without a contractor or permit. the landlord is ripping people off by charging $650 a month for a place that is uninhabitable. all my belongings were ruined with mold and we didn't get our deposit back even though we cleaned the place because the blinds were broken even though they were covered in mold! i don't want this happening to anyone else. please shut them down! i have photos of the mold that was there before i cleaned it up but can't upload them. please call me! submitter's contact preference: i wish to be contacted about this complaint. angela montalvo 813-753-7018 email address: [email protected]
