Description: Description of complaint: owners of subject property have allowed adult son to build elevated platform (deck) 10 feet high on top of a pergola without any permit and without guardrails for the purpose of looking into adjacent yards with 6 foot privacy fences. i found this young man looking into my home ( sun room and side bathroom window) seated in a chair facing my yard. my husband who is away on business wanted me to call the police to report this peeping tom activity but i felt code enforcement is appropriate as the structure is not sound nor condoned by home inspection codes. as a claim adjuster for cat claims for state farm and a certified florida home inspector i find the structure dangerous, an attractive nuisance and invasive to privacy to the neighbors around this property. i have no problem in contacting the police if this activity continues but i felt the structure needs to go immediately. you will find upon inspecting the property that this family has improperly disposed of water waste from their roof by building dirt mound to direct the runoff into my yard. they also inproperly store refuse on the side of their home. this activity has gone on for some time but the intrusive invasion of privacy has prompted this letter. please investigate as soon as possible. i can no longer enjoy the comforts of my home with this intrusion. submitter's contact preference: i wish to be contacted about this complaint. pamela st. john 813-968-4358 email address: [email protected]
