Description: Location of complaint: 513 draft horse place our backyard neighbors are not properly maintaining the v ditch on the northeast end (side) of their back yard, which butts up to the northwest end (rear) of our property. the residents recently hired landscapers to clear all of the overgrown brush in the ditch, however, they did not remove the largest weed on their northeast property line (which is now the size of a tree). we rarely see the homeowners and have never spoken to them, but when we noticed landscapers clearing the area, we asked if they were aware that the overgrown area was, in fact, a weed & had roots that were breaking up the concrete drainage. the workers advised us that the homeowner specifically said not to cut down that tree. we asked how much more it would cost to remove it, and we would offer to help pay since the roots have begun to lift our ground pavers. the workers told us that there was no extra fee to remove it, and the owner knew it was already included in the price he was paying for the other work. the workers said they even pointed out to the home owners that the concrete ditch was broken from overgrowth, yet they were told to remove everything, except for the area in question which they were instructed to leave alone & not trim at all. since we knew it was the neighbor's private property and not the responsibility of the city, we did our best to maintain the ditch to keep it clear of any obstructions or shrubbery when the home was vacant between the current & prior owners several years ago. i reported this to code enforcement in 2011 when we received the letter from the city dated 09/27/11 re: drainage devices and slopes, however, the situation was never remedied & has since worsened. thank you for your attention to this matter. we are concerned that during the rains, both our property & theirs may be compromised without property drainage. thank you. please contact us if you require further information or need to access our property at all in rectifying this matter.
