Description: Finishing 11x17 area in attic to be used for storage closet,some drywall,minor electrical work fieldstone acres,lot 19 . . . . . 11/12/02 spoke with applicant, section thru the dwelling that shows sizes & spacing, ceiling height, foundation, etc. is required. also,copied ceiling height section of the code and discussed the requirements. contractor didnt think it would be feasable to cut trusses and raise the ceiling height. i advised that cutting trusses would require a maryland engineers design and seal. contractor indicated that owner may write letter to pp and ask for relief from the code requirements. fgq 11/14/2002 letter submitted to the office by the owner requesting that our office consider waiving the required 76" ceiling height for finished rooms and allowing 68".randy dick gave the letter to me and i have as angela to pull the original building permit file to see if we have the original house plans(prj95-2202).wkv 11/20/2002 per rmd,i called mr sudec and scheduledan inspection of the area in question.rmd,tem and i will be there on thursday at 11:00 am to review the situation(11/22/2002).wkv 11/21/02 rmd, wkv,and i met with home owner and determined that there would need to be an engineers design for the alteration of the truss system to comply with the code requirements regarding bearing capacity and ceiling height.- the owner expressed his desire not to alter the truss system therefore rmd stated that he could not issue a permit for ceiling heights of 68" and not have a floor sysytem which is rated for a 40 pound live load. the owner was told of his recourse being to bring this issue to pp.-tem 11/21/2002 rmd,tem,and i(wkv) met with mr sudec at the site and the the project was turned down by rmd based on the questionable floor load of the trusses and the restricted ceiling height.options were discussed with the owner which were basically advising him to get and engineer and have him evaluate the trusses and make recommendations as to what could be done to bring this area in to compliance as a habitable space.rmd advised mr sudec he could still contack mr prodonovich when he retured from vacation and an appeal with the building board was also discussed.rmd instructed me to folow up with a letter stating the dpartments reason for denying the permit.wkv 11/266/2002 i spoke with mr sudec on the phone and he will be submitted a letter revising the application to reflect that the attic area will be finished for a closet only.i requested that he submit a letter basically stating this and thathe is fully aware that this space is not approved for use as a habitable room because of ceiling height and floor issues.mr sudec said that he will also be applying for permits to finish off a portion of the basement for a rec room and that this space will be used to meet the needs ofthe space he originally proposed in the attic. wkv
