Description: Back deck enclosure repair/upgrade violation needs to talk to violations responding to notice of violation for nearly completed repair work: pre-existing raised deck at rear of house (approx 7ft x 20ft) which was part of the original structure and was built close to the rear fence. later added roof over deck + security/privacy walls along the perimeter of the deck + a side door with steps down to ground level. now fixing the structural support beneath the floor - replacing decaying dry-rotted wood with new wood. also dry rot noted along back wall - replaced previous wood siding with new wood siding + added layer of insulation and dry wall to the interior. added 2 small windows to back wall. no electrical or plumbing in the perimeter walls. also reframed & reset door. rebuilt the wooden steps outside from side door to ground level (~ 3 feet high) question raised about proximity to the back fence (~ 1 foot). need to clarify if adequate allowance and if the property line extends to the fence or the street behind it. we did not extend further than the pre-existing deck flooring. other neighbors along that same stretch of houses also have back decks built as close to the fence as mine. likewise, due to our row of houses backing up to an apartment complex parking lot, most of us felt a need to put up some type of a privacy screen.
