Description: Wrk13-00158 please see attached documents to whom it may concern, i am writing to you in concern about the violations that casey-bertram construction, inc. was assessed for the following permits: wrk13-00158: 7260 fitch ave - $430.00 wrk13-00368: 7260 fitch ave - $430.00 the violations were given to casey-bertram construction, inc. for fialing to complete the completion cards associated with these permits. casey-bertram believes that while this was the case, we have had hundreds of wrecking permits pulled throughout the past years with no violations. casey-bertram feels that the amount of $430.00 per permit for a first violation is unfounded. casey-bertram believes that we should not be assessed the full amount of the violations because it was not brought to our attention immediately. casey-bertram had the permits pulled on march 13, 2013. the permits expired on april 14, 2013. casey-bertram was unaware of the violations until june 13, 2013, when it was received in the mail. casey-bertram went to the permitting office immediately the next day, on june 14, 2013 to receive an explanation of the violations. casey-bertram is at the permitting office weekly pulling wrecking permits, but the violation was not brought to our attention until two (2) months after the permit expired. casey-bertram was unaware that the completion cards had not been filed because of the odd nature that accompanies this permit. hays & sons complete restoration was the primary contracto on this project.. the house had been damaged during a storm, which had blown a tree over onto the house. in order to have the house returned to its original state in the lease amount of time for their customer, they tore the house down, unknowingly, failing to get the correct wrecking permits. hays & sons complete restoration was issued a "stop work order" by david carpenter on 12/03/2012. in order to rectify the situation hays & sons complete restoration hired casey-bertram construction, inc. to pull the proper wrecking permits. hays & sons had already demolished the house down to the top of the basement located at 7260 fitch ave. but had not yet demolished the carport out front. after having the carport demolished they were told by the city of indianapolis that they could not rebuild because of reasons unknown to casey-bertram. hays & sons has apparently stopped work at the site. please see attached picture (6/13/13). casey-bertram hopes to have this issued resolved as soon as possible. best regards.
