Description: 08-047943 124 n 67th street silver creek hazardous walkways city of mesa fire and police personnel have repeatedly responded to emergency calls and complaints at the silver creek apartments located at 124 n 67th street, mesa. subsequently these calls have placed the responders in dangerous and unsafe hazardous conditions due to the properties run down condition. a survey of the property by mesa fire, police, and building inspectors discovered poor lighting in the complex, illegible building numbers, a green pool, and several buildings with extensive damage due to weather related water and sun damage. other hazards such as loose railings and crumbling balconies with rotted wooden support members were discovered. a total of seven, second story walkways were deemed unsafe due to inadequate maintenance and constituted an immediate hazard to the occupants and any possible emergency responders. the owner of the property, mil omirka (mary) djordjevich was located at the miles motel, 5911 e. main street, which she also owns. mary was notified that the mesa fire department and building safety inspectors had determined it was necessary to fence off the hazardous walkways because of the immediate and obvious danger to the public and any first responders. she was informed they could send a representative to meet with us on the property to meet with us on the hazardous walkways. they were in violation of 7-2-1 2006 international fire code sections 110.1 unsafe buildings and 110.1.1 unsafe conditions. an emergency board-up company was contacted and responded to the apartments to block and fence off the unsafe locations until repairs could be made. they responded immediately and fenced off the unsafe locations. building and fire inspectors will meet with the owner tuesday, september 2, 2008 for a complete property inspection. the building inspector gil prado will serve a notice on repairing the hazardous walkways
